In the Fall of 2016, I was interested in finding an outlet for my son on the Spectrum where he could express some of the emotional challenges his disability presented him. After having unsuccessfully tried more mainstream therapists over the years, I wanted to find a different approach and one that could leverage his art talent.
A quick internet search led me to Janeen and it was an instant fit! After only the first session, my son was able to articulate, through his drawing, what having a disability meant to him. The picture he drew was profound and could not have been articulated in words, but Janeen found a way, using pencil and paper, for my son to express his inner thoughts.
One of the most striking qualities which Janeen possesses is a calm, nurturing and encouraging spirit! This proved to be a wonderful balance to the often rushed, critical and confusing school setting in which my son spent most of his time.
After four years with Janeen, she has become an integral part of my son’s journey. He looks forward to seeing her knowing he can share his thoughts in a safe environment.
I would highly recommend Janeen to any individual needing a different approach to conventional therapy sessions.

I had such a great experience taking Janeen’s self directed course, ‘6 Archetypes That Transform Grief’. One of the most impactful things that I gained from taking her course was a really solid and clear framework for the grief experience. I really love that this course talks about chakras and the way that the energy of grief manifests in the body. The course really connects all the different archetypes to the way our energy expresses itself within our body. I found so much value in the fact that there was an acknowledgment of that aspect of the grief experience. Lastly, I loved the art experientials! I really love that Janeen offers so much of her own personal experience with grief throughout the course because it made me feel that she was very accessible as a presenter and it also normalized the grief process for me.

I approached Janeen because I was looking for an art therapist to work with my daughter who was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. My daughter developed a close and trusting relationship with Janeen where she felt comfortable to share about school and family. My daughter participated in really interesting and exciting art projects to support and build on the therapeutic alliance between she and Janeen. I also met with Janeen for sessions to explore parenting issues and the hardships it entailed. I found Janeen to be caring, creative, non judgmental and a great listener. I highly recommend Janeen

After my grandparents passed, Janeen was instrumental in helping me and my family get through the grieving process. The interesting thing is that some of us think we are fine and may not need any help. That was me. However, once I sat down with Janeen it was obvious that grief counseling was a necessary step towards being healthy. My daughter was especially close with both of my grandparents and I knew that she would need a guide to help her to process her loss. Janeen is warm, sensitive, and my daughter looked forward to meeting with her to process her grief. Janeen helped my daughter to express her grief through drawing, painting and creating a beautiful video memoir dedicated to the life of her great grand-parent’s. Janeen has a gift and a sweet spirit. At a time of devastating loss, she was able to help me and my daughter to smile and laugh again. Janeen taught us powerful coping skills for grief and life in general. To our family, this is worth more than all the gold in the world.
